Chozen offer excellent Asian cuisine, specialising in hot noodle and rice dishes, as well as udon and sushi. Over the years they have developed into a service station venue, and the Cobham Services site was a chance to develop the brand’s design whilst responding to an interesting brief.
The Design Brief
The design brief from the landlord was to make sure we maintained a certain amount of transparency through the unit so that visitors could see what was going on behind it. The client’s brief was to make sure we communicated the core elements of the brand and maintain a good visibility. We achieved both by adopting a Japanese style of architecture using fins that supported overhead menus and signage. We also used bamboo and overlapped the junctions between horizontal and vertical elements to continue this look. The result is on-brand, on-brief and brilliantly functional.
