In our previous journal post we talked about Exterior Signage Design for your Interior Design Project. In this post we are looking more inward, how to navigate the space and communicate to your cou
What signage should you put within your interior?
I would like to tackle this in 3 parts, firstly we would like to discuss repeating your company name within your interior. Then we will look at directional signage and finally everything else…
You venue name
Repeating the name of your venue within the interior of your site is visually a balancing act. It is important to get the scale and it’s prominence right. Having your branding in a prominent place is good for promotional images and bringing life to your space. Over the years we have used a mixture of illuminated and unlit signs and played with textured walls behind using bricks and tiles on occasions. Directional Signage for your interior
Directional and informational signage has the important job of helping customers navigate your space. We have been guilty of not taking enough photographs of directional signage in the past so don’t have as much to share as the other areas of this journal post. As with the exterior signage post we issued last week we would recommend using a graphic designer to help with this aspect of the interior. It is an important aspect of the interior and helping customers use your site in a creative and engaging manor.
Other types of text / graphics

These add another level texture to our interiors and help convey additional information and places for your eyes to rest. We have used maps to help convey the providence of how ingredients are sourced, a large graphic of a dog to help encourage customers upstairs and a photograph of a New York streetscape to give the feeling of the city…
Interior signage is an important part of our projects but it is always necessary to implement it with a considered way. We sometimes add signage at the end of project once we have a better understanding of a space. If you would like us to help you with your next project please get in touch using our contacts page.
